Located in the coastal foothills near Sheridan Oregon...in the McMinnville AVA...that's inside the Willamette Valley AVA?

Morning Mist is a small vineyard...1st year plantings were 4 clones on 2 rootstocks covering 3 acres...divided into 4 blocks...all Pinot Noir...Rootstock is 101-14 and 3309, with clones being 115, 667, 777, Wadensvil.

We'll add 2+ additional acres this year, with a final 2 the following season (that's what's enclosed with deer fence currently).

The vineyard ground has been managed Organically for many years and we'll apply for certification as we get closer to first harvest.

We have an interesting site. Located between 600-700' elevation, we're possibly the most 'Westerly' Vineyard in Yamhill County...home of the nations finest Pinot Noir. We've aligned the rows basically Northeast/Southwest to take advantage of the afternoon winds (and keep them from knocking down the westerly most trellis).

Soil was ripped to 42" and most areas pulled up no rock...2 areas (totaling perhaps 1/2 acre), pulled rock to the surface...a yellowish, slightly soft stuff that I'm guessing is Basalt. We then disced, both using a large commercial farm size and later a smaller disc that we could pull behind our 32hp tractor.

Prior to planting we augered holes 12" x up to 30" deep and in some cases (block 1, first year), we added a chunk of old bone to the hole before filling and planting.

The plants themselves were dipped in a Mycorrizal solution...each lovingly planted by TJ (not sure but she might of secretly passed a Sage smudge stick over the top of each when no one was looking). We then watered deep 3 times throughout the summer, and were helped along with the wetter than normal conditions.

Until we have more information for you to look at we suggest you take a look at our other site:

www.MorningMistFarmandNursery.com (Morning Mist Farm and Nursery)...here we'll be showing the lavender and lavender products that we currently have available...along with sage for smudge sticks.
